Set up Smokable.

Link your Pit Boss account

Sign in to Smokable with Apple. Then choose Link Pit Boss account and enter the email and password you use in the Pit Boss app.

Smokable keeps your Pit Boss sign-in encrypted and uses it only to reach your grills. It lists the grills on your account; choose the ones to add and give each a name.

Or find a grill nearby (iPhone, iPad, Mac)

Without a Pit Boss account, use Find a Grill Nearby in the Smokable app. Turn the grill on and stand within about 10 meters (30 feet). Smokable uses Bluetooth only during setup, to find the grill and prove it's yours.

The grill still needs Wi-Fi. Smokable reaches grills only through the internet.

Start a cook

Open the smoker and choose Start monitoring. Add a title, food items, probe targets, and the auto-stop if you like, or start with nothing filled in.

The cook goes live with the grill's first reading. Smokable keeps watching with every app and browser closed, and stops the cook after the auto-stop you chose.

Add marks as you go

Tap On the smoker, Spritzed, Wrapped, or Pulled as it happens, or write a note. Forgot one? Add it at an earlier time.

Marks appear on the chart and in the cook's journal, and the summary uses them for cook time, the temperature at wrap, and the rest.

Get alerts

In the apps, allow notifications when Smokable asks. On the web, open Alerts in the dashboard and turn on alerts in this browser.

On iPhone and iPad, web alerts need Smokable on the Home Screen: open this site in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Open Smokable from the Home Screen and turn on alerts there.

Email alerts for a lost connection and a stopped cook work everywhere. Turn them on in Alerts.

Add a backup sign-in

Pit Boss has a newer sign-in page. Signing in there once gives Smokable a second way to reach your grills if Pit Boss changes how sign-in works.

Add it from the Smokable app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac, in Settings › Pit Boss Account.
